Daniel Day-Lewis - 'Last Of The Mohicans' VH-1 feature, 1992
This is a piece about The Last of the Mohicans from Flix, a movie show that used to air on VH-1 back in the 1990s. In the clip, Daniel, Michael Mann, Madeleine Stowe, Wes Studi, and Russell Means are all interviewed about the film. Flix frequently had guest hosts, and interestingly, the guest host for this particular episode was Rupert Everett, whom Daniel replaced as Guy Bennett in the West End production of Julian Mitchell's play 'Another Country' in 1982.

Daniel Day-Lewis on 'The Last Of The Mohicans', 1992
Просмотров 129 тыс.15 лет назад
This is a brief interview with Daniel that aired on Entertainment Tonight shortly before The Last of The Mohicans was released in 1992. Daniel discusses the Native Americans who were involved in the making of the film, and what he hopes audiences take away from it. The audio for this clip isn't as strong as I would like, so you might want to turn your speakers up a little.

This is a short piece on The Last Of The Mohicans that appeared on CNN's Showbiz Today in 1992. In it DDL discusses his beloved Kentucky rifle and comments on Hawkeye's relationship with Cora. Madeleine Stowe, Daniel's co-star in the film, also appears.

This is a brief interview with DDL that aired on CNN's old Showbiz Today program in 1988. It's incomplete (the first minute or so is missing) and Daniel's hair isn't at its best, but one can't have everything, I suppose.:)

This is a very, very brief clip of DDL chatting with Leeza Gibbons on Entertainment Tonight after winning his big award for My Left Foot in 1990. Even in less than 30 seconds, Daniel is the epitome of humbleness and graciousness.:)

Here's a clip from what has thus far been Daniel Day-Lewis's only real comedy, the 1988 Pat O'Connor film Stars and Bars. In it Daniel plays Henderson Dores, an uptight English art dealer who's transplanted himself to NYC and is doing his level best to embrace the American way of life. When his boss sends him to the American south to acquire a rare painting from Loomis Gage (Harry Dean Stanton)...

A clip from Daniel Day-Lewis's appearance on the AMC interview show 'Movies 101' in 2005. Hosted by NYU film professor Richard Brown, this program was reminiscent of 'Inside The Actors Studio', minus some of the pretentiousness. DDL looks pretty rough here, but his recounting of his brief career with the Royal Shakespeare Company is hilarious.

What always gets me about what Newland says to Ellen in this scene is what a hypocrite he is, because at the beginning of the film, does he not advise Ellen that for the sake of the family, that she remain in a miserable marriage to the count? Then he tells her in this scene that it was Ellen who told him to carry on with a false life married to May. I don’t remember her ever telling him that, but more that she could not see him being cruel toward May by breaking off his engagement. The only time I remember in this movie that Ellen sought out Newland was when he first meets her, she mentions to him that she will expect him at her home which I believe was for legal advice the next afternoon. Other than that, it is Newland who seeks her out, following her to where she went to get away, offering to pick her up at the train station, going to Washington because he knows she’s there. I don’t believe that Ellen chased him - she had feelings for him, but she didn’t seek him out as he did her.

A great tribute to Working Class Communities the World over who are almost always ahead of the rest of Society when it comes to not just accepting different but using it as a strength. Huge credit to DDL for his role in highlighting that and his brilliance as an Actor overall

Film magnifico, attori magnifici, regia magnifica, costumi magnifici!!!
